In 1996 he joined an umbhaqanga group where he was taught how to write songs, He later joined a kwaito group Soldiers Of Love. The group disbanded after CoolManathi was arrested for two months in 2001. In 2012 CoolManathi recorded an album which earned him recognition. South Africa is a melting pot, a country with 11 different official languages and a musical legacy littered with distinctive subgenres like kwaito, gqom, kwela, and bubblegum.
