South African hip Hop making waves internationally.

South Africa is a melting pot, a country with 11 different official languages and a musical legacy littered with distinctive subgenres like kwaito, gqom, kwela, and bubblegum. New artists are paying homage to these musical blueprints but tweaking them slightly – the wavy, glitchy synths of kwaito might be underpinned by menacing trap drums, whereas DJs are digging deep into vinyl archives to resurrect samples of South African bubblegum pop and splicing them into new, more modern production. Rules are being bent and the results are starting to garner the attention of international audiences.

The heavy presence of South African artists on last year’s Black Panther soundtrack only solidified the country’s reputation as a hub of creativity, and labels like ATM (African Trap Movement) are slowly but surely building rosters packed with potential stars. The likes of Black Coffee, FAKA and Die Antwoord have already built global fanbases for various reasons, but now the spotlight is being shone on newer artists or musicians whose work has been largely underrated by audiences worldwide throughout their career.

Brickz was last year found guilty of raping a 17-year-old relative in 2013, and sentenced to 15 years in prison. He was released on R80,000 bail pending an appeal against his conviction, but this was denied.  Brickz was moved from Krugersdorp Correctional Services to Leeuwkop Correctional Services. His manager, Grey Mafumbu, told TshisaLIVE the move was to help improve the star's study options and rehabilitation. He also confirmed that Brickz had joined the prison's choir. “Brickz is part of a choir in prison. They usually perform in church or at weddings,” he said. Grey saidBrickz had always had a love for choir music. “He has a choir background because when he was younger he was part of a choir,” Grey said. He said the star was well and was focused on improving himself. Brickz has also relied on the support of his fiancée, Cazo Cas. In an interview earlier this year, Cazo told   Drum  her love for him didn't change after his conviction.

CoolManathi real name Sandisile Koyana born on the 2nd of Dec in 1986,Coolmanathi is an artist Based in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1996 he joined an umbhaqanga group where he was taught how to write songs, He later joined a kwaito group Soldiers Of Love. The group disbanded after CoolManathi was arrested for two months in 2001. In 2012 CoolManathi recorded an album which earned him recognition. He has shared the stage with big names like Fiesta Black, DJ Clock, DJ Tira, Speedy and Oskido. Now is currently busy at the studio working on a new EP titeld Ebunzimeni, this EP contains the expiriences of his daily life of which has a dynamic of emotion from the down to the top.
